Yesterday at The Court Jeweller, I published a deep dive on the history of the iconic sapphire and diamond ring worn by both Lady Diana Spencer and Kate Middleton as their engagement ring. Commenters online have been divided about whether they’d be happy to receive a ring with links to a previous wearer. For our discussion post today here at Hidden Gems, I’ve showcased four British royal engagement rings with ties to previous owners. Over the past century, royals in Britain have given and received a whole range of royal engagement rings. From the Queen Mother’s lovely sapphire and diamond ring to the fabulous rings sported by this generation of Windsor wives, the selection of rings encompasses an entire spectrum of jewelry choices. But four of the rings, in particular, are linked to the mothers and grandmothers of the princes who presented them to their brides.
