Every year, the British royals save some of their most impressive royal brooch moments for the month of June, and this year’s crop of jewels was particularly bountiful. For our discussion post today, I’ve got a roundup of eight fabulous brooches worn by Queen Camilla as she commemorated D-Day, celebrated Trooping the Colour, attended Royal Ascot, and welcomed the Emperor and Empress of Japan to London. Let us know which pieces were your favorites in the comment section below!

When she headed to France for the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings earlier this month, Queen Camilla brought along a very appropriate heirloom brooch: the Courtauld Thomson Scallop-Shell Brooch. Designed by a Scottish inventor who also served as a Commissioner for the Red Cross, the brooch was a favorite of both the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II.

Camilla’s decision to wear the shell-shaped brooch for the D-Day commemorations also tied in beautifully to the event itself. The sea-themed brooch has a design link to the maritime invasion operation, and the little diamond drops that flow from the jewel resemble both water droplets and tears of remembrance.
